Using Your Ventolin HFA Inhaler
Before first use: Shake the inhaler well for 5-10 seconds. Before each use: Shake well again. Hold the inhaler upright.
To inhale: Breathe out completely. Place the mouthpiece between your lips, closing your lips tightly around it. Begin inhaling slowly and deeply; press down on the canister at the same time to release one puff. Continue inhaling slowly and deeply. Hold your breath for 10 seconds. Repeat if your doctor instructed you to take multiple puffs. Wait about 1 minute between puffs if more than one is needed.
Cleaning: Rinse the mouthpiece with warm water weekly. Let it air dry completely.
Dosage
Your doctor will determine the appropriate number of inhalations per day and the frequency of use. Typical dosages range from one to four puffs as needed, or a preventative dosage determined by your physician. Never exceed the prescribed amount.
