Seek immediate medical attention if you experience high fever (above 101°F or 38.3°C), persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or signs of dehydration (dark urine, decreased urination). These could indicate kidney infection or other serious complications.
Severe Allergic Reactions
Allergic reactions to amoxicillin can be life-threatening. Stop taking the medication immediately and seek emergency medical help if you develop hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue (angioedema), difficulty breathing, or a rapid heartbeat. These symptoms require immediate attention.
Persistent or Worsening Symptoms
Your UTI symptoms should improve within a few days of starting amoxicillin. If your symptoms don’t improve after 3-5 days, or if they worsen despite treatment, contact your doctor. This suggests the antibiotic may not be effective against the infection, or another problem may exist. Your doctor may need to adjust your treatment plan.
