Always ensure you have a doctor’s prescription before attempting Lasix nebulisation.
First, prepare the medication. Accurately measure the prescribed dose of Lasix and add it to the nebuliser cup, following the manufacturer’s instructions precisely. Use sterile saline solution as the diluent as needed.
Next, connect the nebuliser cup to the nebuliser device. Make sure the connections are secure to avoid leaks.
Now, connect the tubing to the nebuliser and the oxygen source. Ensure the oxygen flow rate is set as per your doctor’s instructions; typically, this ranges from 6-8 liters per minute. Check the machine functions correctly before proceeding.
Once ready, have the patient sit comfortably in an upright position. Help them to attach the mouthpiece or mask correctly and securely to minimize leakage and discomfort.
Begin the nebulisation process. Monitor the patient closely for any adverse reactions such as coughing, shortness of breath, or wheezing. Stop the procedure immediately if any complications arise and notify a physician.
After the medication is fully nebulised, disconnect the patient from the device. Discard the used nebuliser cup and tubing properly following infection control protocols. Clean the nebuliser according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Finally, document the procedure, noting the time, medication dosage, and any observations or reactions made during the process. Inform the doctor of any issues or notable changes in the patient’s condition.
