The Clomid Treatment Process: What to Expect

Your doctor will likely start you on a low dose of Clomid, typically 50mg daily, for five days, beginning on cycle day 3 or 5. You’ll monitor your body’s response through regular blood tests and ultrasounds to check follicle growth and hormone levels.

Expect some side effects; these commonly include hot flashes, mood swings, bloating, and headaches. These usually are mild and subside once you stop taking the medication. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe side effects like abdominal pain or blurred vision.

If your ovaries don’t respond sufficiently to the initial dose, your doctor may increase it gradually. Doses usually don’t exceed 150mg daily. They’ll carefully monitor you to avoid overstimulation.

Ovulation typically occurs about 5-11 days after your last Clomid dose. Your doctor will recommend intercourse or intrauterine insemination (IUI) during this fertile window, maximizing your chances of conception.

Most women complete Clomid treatment within six cycles. If pregnancy doesn’t occur after several cycles, your doctor will discuss alternative fertility treatments. Pregnancy testing will usually occur around 14 days after your predicted ovulation.

Remember to maintain a healthy lifestyle during treatment, including proper nutrition and exercise, to support your overall health and fertility.
