PAF episodes can manifest in various ways. Many experience a racing or irregular heartbeat (palpitations).
Shortness of breath (dyspnea) is another common symptom, stemming from the heart’s inability to efficiently pump blood.
Chest pain or discomfort (angina) can occur, although it’s less frequent than palpitations or shortness of breath. This pain might feel like pressure or tightness.
Lightheadedness or dizziness frequently accompanies PAF episodes. This can be due to reduced blood flow to the brain.
Weakness or fatigue can also develop. Your body is working harder than usual, resulting in pronounced tiredness.
Some individuals experience fainting (syncope) during a severe PAF episode, while others report nausea or sweating.
The intensity and combination of these symptoms vary significantly between individuals. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms, especially if they are severe or sudden.
