Refrigerate prepared sucralfate slurry immediately. Store it in a tightly sealed, sterile container to prevent contamination.
Use the slurry within 24 hours of preparation. Discard any unused portion after this time, even if it appears unchanged. The risk of bacterial growth increases significantly after 24 hours.
Avoid freezing the slurry, as this can alter its consistency and potentially reduce its effectiveness. Room temperature storage is also unacceptable due to the rapid growth of microorganisms.
Always check the slurry’s appearance before use. If you notice any unusual changes in color, texture, or odor, discard it. Your safety is paramount.
