Prevention of Staph Infections

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after touching potentially contaminated surfaces or before handling food.

Keep cuts and wounds clean and covered with a bandage until they’re completely healed. Cleanse thoroughly with soap and water, then apply antibiotic ointment.

Avoid sharing personal items such as towels, razors, and clothing. Staph bacteria can easily transfer through direct contact.

Practice good hygiene in public places. Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth, especially after using shared facilities.

If you have a staph infection, follow your doctor’s treatment plan meticulously. This includes finishing prescribed antibiotics, even if you feel better before completing the course.

Disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home and workplace, including doorknobs, light switches, and countertops, using a suitable disinfectant.

Maintain a strong immune system. Eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and manage stress effectively. A healthy immune system helps fight off infections.

If you work in healthcare or a similar setting with high exposure risk, strictly adhere to infection control protocols.
