Take Maxalt 10 mg tablets as directed by your doctor. The usual starting dose is one 10 mg tablet at the first sign of a migraine. Do not exceed two 10 mg tablets within a 24-hour period.
Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush, chew, or break it. If you experience nausea, taking the tablet with food may help. Allow adequate time for the medication to take effect; relief usually begins within 1 hour, but it may take longer for some individuals.
Important Considerations: Maxalt is designed for acute migraine treatment. It’s not a preventative medication. If you experience frequent migraines, discuss preventative treatment options with your healthcare provider. Report any side effects, such as chest pain or severe allergic reactions, to your doctor immediately. Remember to store Maxalt at room temperature, away from moisture and sunlight.
