Understanding the Pill Pack
The pack contains three weeks of active pills (containing hormones) followed by one week of placebo pills (inactive pills). The placebo pills initiate your period. Follow the arrow on the pack to determine the order of pills.
Starting Your Pack
Begin taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo on the first day of your menstrual period for optimal protection. If you start on a different day, use a backup method of contraception (like condoms) for the first seven days.
Missing a Pill
If you miss one active pill, take it as soon as you remember, even if this means taking two pills in one day. If you miss two or more pills, follow the instructions in your patient information leaflet or contact your doctor immediately. Remember, missed pills decrease the effectiveness of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.
Managing Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, breast tenderness, and mood changes. These usually subside after a few months. If side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Don’t stop taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo without discussing it with your healthcare provider.
Switching to a New Pack
