Emergency Procedures for Overdose or Adverse Reactions

Call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. Do not wait to see if symptoms improve.

Information to Provide to Emergency Services

Clearly state the situation: “Suspected overdose of round yellow pills.” Describe the pills as accurately as possible: size, markings, any other identifying features. Give the victim’s age, weight, and any known medical conditions. Provide your location. If possible, gather any remaining pills for identification. Follow the dispatcher’s instructions carefully.

Immediate Actions Before Emergency Help Arrives

Keep the person awake and responsive. Check their breathing and pulse. If breathing is shallow or absent, begin CPR if you are trained. Do not induce vomiting unless specifically instructed by medical professionals. Try to maintain a calm environment.

Post-Emergency Actions

Cooperate fully with emergency medical personnel and provide any information requested. Follow any prescribed treatment diligently. After discharge, schedule a follow-up appointment with your doctor to discuss the incident and potential long-term effects. Carefully store medications to prevent future accidents.
