Drug Interactions and Contraindications of Doxycycline USP

Doxycycline can interact negatively with several medications. Always inform your doctor about all medications, supplements, and herbal remedies you are taking.

Drug Interactions

    Antacids: Avoid taking doxycycline with antacids containing calcium, magnesium, aluminum, or iron. These minerals reduce doxycycline absorption. Dairy products: Dairy products can also interfere with absorption. Separate doxycycline intake from dairy consumption by at least two hours. Warfarin: Doxycycline can increase the effects of warfarin, increasing bleeding risk. Close monitoring of INR is necessary. Methotrexate: Concomitant use can increase methotrexate toxicity. Careful monitoring is needed. Oral contraceptives: Doxycycline may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Consider alternative contraception methods while taking doxycycline.
