Dosage and Administration Guidelines for Safe Injection

Always follow your doctor’s prescribed dosage. Never exceed the recommended dose.

Intramuscular Injection

Haloperidol lactate injection is typically administered intramuscularly (IM). Use aseptic technique to prevent infection. The preferred injection sites include the gluteal muscle (buttock) or the deltoid muscle (upper arm).

Gluteal Injection: Use the ventrogluteal site for optimal absorption and reduced risk of nerve damage. Inject deeply into the muscle mass. Deltoid Injection: Administer into the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, avoiding the acromion process (bony prominence of the shoulder). Ensure the needle reaches deep into the muscle.

Rotate injection sites to minimize local irritation and discomfort.

Intravenous Injection

Intravenous (IV) administration should be performed slowly and only by trained medical professionals. Rapid IV injection may lead to adverse effects.

Administer the injection slowly over at least 5 minutes. Monitor the patient closely for any signs of adverse reactions during and after the injection. Dilute the solution as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

Important Precautions

Before administering the injection, carefully review the medication’s package insert for complete instructions and warnings. Always check for particulate matter or discoloration prior to administration. Report any unusual observations to your physician.

Post-Injection Monitoring

Observe the patient for any signs of adverse reactions, such as hypotension, extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS), or sedation. Document the date, time, dose, and administration route of the injection.

Dosage Adjustments

Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on the patient’s response and clinical condition. Your physician will determine the appropriate dosage regimen.

Always consult your healthcare provider for specific instructions and to address any questions or concerns you may have about administering haloperidol lactate injection.
