Alphagan P (brimonidine tartrate and timolol maleate ophthalmic solution) is typically administered as one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. Always follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
Instillation Technique
Proper instillation is key to maximizing effectiveness. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch. Look upward and away from the dropper. Carefully place one drop into the pouch. Close your eye gently for about one minute to prevent the medication from draining away.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it’s nearly time for the next dose. Never double the dose to compensate for a missed one.
Potential Interactions
Inform your ophthalmologist about all medications you are currently using, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, as well as herbal supplements. Some medications may interact with Alphagan P.
Important Precautions
Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface. Discard any unused solution after the expiration date printed on the bottle. Store Alphagan P at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
